On Wednesday, September 23, 2026, the opening ceremony for the 79th Resident Course took place at the National Defense College. The event included a blessing service followed by an address from the College Commandant, Rear Admiral Konstantinos Pitykakis (Hellenic Navy), and was attended by the Commander of the Joint Academic Education Command, Lieutenant General Anastasios Polychronos, as representative of the Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff (HNDGS), General Dimitrios Choupis. Also present at the ceremony were representatives of the Chiefs of the General Staffs and the Security Forces, College faculty members, and other guests.
Participants in the Resident course include senior officers from the Armed Forces and Security Forces, permanent civilian personnel from the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Migration and Asylum, as well as senior officers from the Arab Republic of Egypt, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Republic of Cyprus.
