Rear Admiral Konstantinos Pitykakis HN

Rear Admiral Konstantinos Pitykakis Hellenic Navy was born on 03 July 1968 in Thessaloniki. He joined the Naval Academy in 1986 and graduated as an Ensign four years later, in 1990. He was promoted to Rear Admiral on 12 January 2026.
He has served on-board Destroyers as Missile Officer and Weapons Department Head. He has served as Commanding Officer of the Fast Attack Craft NTEGIANNIS and the Frigate LIMNOS.
Regarding staff posts, he has served at the First Destroyers Squadron as First Staff Officer, at the Frigate Command as Weapons Director, at the Hellenic Fleet HQ as Weapons Director and as Operations & Exercises Director, at the Olympic Games Security Branch of the Joint Staff as Special Staff Officer, at the General Directorate for Defense Investments and Armaments as Navy main contracts Custodian, at NATO’s Allied Command Transformation as Deputy National Liaison Representative of Greece, at the Hellenic Navy General Staff as Deputy Director of the Chief’s Cabinet, as Director of Military Personnel, as Director of Operations and as Director of B’ Branch (Human Resources), as Defense Attaché of Greece to Romania and Moldova, as Commandant of the Naval War College, as Commander of the Greek Maritime Force (GRMARFOR) Headquarters and as Force Commander of EUNAVFOR Operation ASPIDES (4th Rotation).
Since 19 January 2026, he has been assigned Commandant of the Hellenic National Defense College.
He is specialized in Weapons and Operations and has attended all required specialization – qualification courses. Additionally, he has attended the Surface Warfare Officers School (SWOS) in USA and the International Principal Warfare Officer (IPWO) course in UK. He is a graduate of the Navy Command and Staff School, the Supreme Joint War College and the Hellenic National Defense College. He speaks English, German and Spanish. He holds a Master of Arts Degree with distinction on Applied Strategy and International Security from the University of Plymouth.
He has been awarded with all medals and decorations stipulated for his rank and additionally with the Participation in Peacekeeping Missions Commendation Medal (Operation Sharp Guard, 1994), the EUNAFOR Operation ASPIDES CSDP Medal and the Emblem of Honor of the Romanian Land Forces.
He is married and has two daughters.
