Curriculum Vitae of Lieutenant General Themistoklis Grymbiris

Lieutenant General Themistoklis Grympiris was born in 1965. He was admitted to the Hellenic Army Academy in 1982 and graduated in 1986 as Artillery 2nd Lieutenant.

He has served as operations officer of Brigade’s staff, as a logistic officer of the National Guard General Staff, as a staff officer of the HAGS Artillery Directorate, as the aide- de-camp of the Army for His Excellency the President of the Hellenic Republic (2008-2011) as well as the Defence Attaché of the Embassy of Greece in Berlin with concurrent accreditation for the Czech Republic, Poland, Austria and Sweden (2011-2014).

He attended all the schools stipulated for Artillery, as well as the Army’s War College and the National Defense College.

He was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in 2015 and assigned as the Commander of the 96th Higher National Guard Battalions Command (Chios Island) (2015-2016) and subsequently as Director of the HAGS Operations Directorate (2016-2018).

In 2018 he was promoted to Major General and assigned at first as the Director of A’ Branch Staff Directorate of the Higher Army Support Military Command (2018-2019) and the next year, as Chief of Staff (2019-2020). On March 2020, he was appointed as the Commandant of the Hellenic Army Academy (2020-2021).

On March 2021, upon decision of the Governmental Council on Foreign Policy and National Defence, he was promoted to Lieutenant General and appointed as the Commandant of the Hellenic National Defense College.

He has been awarded all the stipulated decorations, medals and commendations.

He speaks English and at a working level German.

He is married and he has a son, 26 years old.
